Manufacturer Representative - Virtual Branch Office
Written by Steve Vogel

Strowger is a Manufacturer Representative company.  Because our manufacturers are all based in Asia, we must be the Virtual Branch Office for our suppliers, covering all areas of import, sales, marketing and finance for our manufacturers. Our mission is to take unique customer requirements and find suppliers that can meet the demand.  Once we find those suppliers, we establish distribution channels and create product demand.

Here at Strowger we are constantly seeking new products to represent. These days, the most logical place to look for manufacturing of electronics is Mainland China. The Chinese government is actively subsidizing not only the electronics manufacturing industry but also exchange rates. As a result, Chinese electronics cost less than anywhere else in the world. Having sourced numerous products in China, we have a great deal of experience in all the aspects needed to find/design, certify, manufacture and import products from China.  We specialize in taking telecom product requirements and finding a low cost resource to manufacture it.  If you have some unusual product requirement, particularly in the telecom space, please call us; we can find it.   If you are a manufacturer, let us help you establish your brand in the North American market.

Unbranded Products
Written by Administrator

Its hard to create a perceived value when you show up with a Linksys model that looks just like something your customer can get at Best Buy. You have no brand control that way.  We offer plain label products that you can represent in any way you like.

Strowger stocks unbranded products for many requirements.  Add your own label to our unbranded solutions to enable you to control your solution.  Products available unbranded include:

  • Enterprise Router - a 1U 4 WAN port router used by many Asterisk VARs because of its QoS. MSRP $477
  • Broadcom ADSL2+ Router - Utilized by many rural telcos for ipTV.
  • Broadcom 4 Port wireless Router - 10/100 WAN port.  Optionally loads DDWRT.
We specialize in finding plain label solutions for our customers.  Call us with any special requirements.

VOIP QoS Strategy - A How to guide
Written by Administrator

Quality of Service (QoS) is the secret sauce of many custom VOIP solutions. The big bottleneck for VOIP QoS and the place that causes most of the quality problems is the very first outbound link. This is frequently the slowest link, being a DSL or cable modem link of a little as 128k upstream. If you can get out that first link with delay and jitter under control, getting quality VOIP performance through the big pipes in the network will be no problem. The power of a DrayTek is its ability to identify precisely the traffic that is important and make sure it goes out that link first.  In this example we have chosen the Vigor 2820 Dual WAN router. This router has one WAN with an ADSL modem and the other WAN has a 10/100 Megabit Ethernet.  We identify our Asterisk PBX as the source of the traffic that needs to be prioritized, but this could be your Vonage ATA, a Grandstream ipPhone or anything else that produces VOIP packets.
